What is the Meteor Social Audience Marketing Suite?

How does the Meteor Social Audience Marketing Suite work?

Meteor’s technology platform is powered by the company’s patent-pending Tag & Trace™ engine, which tracks content as it is passed-along and identifies the influencers who actively share content and the brand advocates that the shared content reaches. It works as follows:

  1. Meteor assigns a unique ID to each individual visitor that arrives on the site and appends the ID value to the end of the page URL.
  2. As users share (cut and pasting the URL, or using Meteor’s Sharing Tool) content reaches their friends, families & associates; as soon as that friend clicks on the link and arrives at the site, Meteor captures all referral information including the sharer’s unique ID from the URL and replaces it with a new unique ID.
  3. This process then repeats itself each time the content gets shared. In the background, Meteor Builds a multi-generation social graph for every user identifying the individuals that are influential across multiple generations of sharing as well as those individuals they influence (Social Visitors), the content that they like to share and the channels (social or not) where they prefer to do the sharing.

Will deploying Meteor have an impact in SEO?

Even though we modify the URLs on your page and the links pointing to you on the web, your SEO won’t be affected. Meteor is search engine friendly and will not interfere with the indexing of your pages. If meteor fails to run it does so without interfering with the loading of the page which allows spiders without cookie support to behave normally. In addition, we also recommend Meteor customers deploy search engine friendly “canonical link” tags on each page as part of the deployment process.

What about Privacy?

Meteor Solutions proactively complies with Industry privacy standards, the pixel tags and tracking cookies we use do not capture name, address, phone number, email address, or any other information that is personally identifiable; Activation and Advertisement targeting is handled through anonymous cookie ids. We are currently compliant on advertisement delivery choices through our DSP privacy opt out options; in addition we have a pending membership to the Self-Regulatory Program for Online Behavioral Advertising which will make us a member of one of the industry standards consumer opt out pages.

 

Meteor used to have products called Tracker and Ignite.  Do they still exist?

The capabilities of Tracker are now included in the SAM Platform.  Ignite has been renamed Meteor Activate.

 

How is Meteor different from Technologies that “Track Influence”?

  • Unlike solutions that track influencers for general topics, Meteor SAMS automatically tracks a brand’s own social influencers who share the brand’s content.
  • Meteor measures sharing of a brand’s own unique content across the entire social graph – including social networks, email, IM, mobile, and blogs – to build a multi-generation social graph for everyuser as they share the brand’s content, thereby identifying the individuals who are most influential for the brand across multiple generations of sharing.
  • Unlike social listening platforms that use general information like the number of followers or posts to infer brand influence, Tag and Trace™ actually captures the clicks and actions of individual users.

 

How is Meteor different from other companies in the “Social Targeting” Ad space?

Unlike solutions that base Social Targeting in assumptions based on incomplete information extracted from an individual’s social graph, Meteor SAMS builds Social Audience Segments based on tracking of the brand’s own social influencers across the entire social web – including social networks, email, IM, mobile, and blogs – who share the brand’s own content. Using SAMS, brands can identify and target their influencers with advertisement and activation experiences.
